New adventures. Our nonprofit is born...

I’ve walked by his backpack for three days now. There on his hook it has remained, while Blake and Aubrey’s backpacks go to school.
It has taken me three whole days to process through some of this.
Their backpacks have always been together.
Blake’s backpack has never been to school without Brady’s.
Aubrey’s backpack has never riden the bus without Brady’s.
So his backpack, there on his hook, is just a reminder of how different his year will look. His backpack isn’t even filled with school supplies. No pencils. No folders. No homework. No yearly planner.
Nope. It is filled with all the things we need for hospital visits. Snacks. Mints. Chargers. A blanket. A sweatshirt. Books. Cards.
But you know what? It’s ok.
In the book of Matthew, Jesus talks about getting what you ask for, finding what you seek, and knocking on doors that will be opened.
Ask. Seek. Knock.
Ask. Lord, we want to see something incredible through this battle. Lives to be changed. Hope to be found. The gospel to be shared.
Seek. Lord, let us see the good. Let the glory and goodness of who you are be shown to us. Let us not see this battle as something hard to get through, but rather a journey to be able bless as many people as we can through our stories and service.
Knock. Lord, here we are with an idea and dream. Please bring us favor and blessing as we take steps to fulfill what you have placed on our hearts.
This year will be more different, more challenging, and more painful than we could have ever imagined, but we refuse to let that get us down. So we have taken something God has put on our hearts, and we are putting it into action. We don’t want to sit around dwelling in the “what-ifs” and “could-have-beens”.
Today, we finished our paperwork to start our own non-profit, Way To Battle.
We have lots of hopes and dreams for this new adventure. Stories to tell. Hope to share. Love to give. Things to learn. Oh yeah, and hopefully some math, reading, and writing will be learned in there too.
So this school year looks different for Brady and our family, but sometimes different is the biggest blessing we are given that we never expected.
Here is to changing some lives, one stuffed animal at a time…
“Ask and it will be given. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened.”

And health update, unfortunately Brady’s ANC is still only 80 so he still can’t continue treatment. They need his ANC to be 300 to resume. They will run labs Monday, but it has been a slow journey to 80 thus far. Buttttt, there is a purpose and reason. We will trust the wait.
