A masterpiece.

The other morning I was awake early.
Like 3am early.
I couldn’t sleep and spent the remaining hours lying in bed thinking of all that was ahead.
So many thoughts and dreams swirled around and gratitude flooded my heart.
Gratitude that we have been able to weather each storm getting stronger each and every time.
Gratitude that we have a light and beacon of hope to guide us through each and every day.
Gratitude for the love that has filled every inch of this new home we are in.
And then there it came.
I watched each moment of it.
Slowly the sun came up from the trees.
I laid there just in awe of the glorious beauty that the sunrise was offering.
A masterpiece.
Pinks and purples filled the sky with the most beautiful orange painted in amongst the clouds.
As the moments passed it got more and more incredible until finally I thought, “I need to take a picture to send to my mom.”
We talk every day and I always have something new to tell her about this house. Something that fills me with so much joy that I almost cry. Every. Single. Day.
And I thought, “this is the moment to tell her about today. Wait until she sees the incredible sunrise I get to see from our bedroom.”
But I couldn’t get it.
I tried and tried, but never could I capture just how amazing it was.
Maybe it is because we are too frugal to upgrade from our iPhone 8’s, or maybe, maybe it is because it wasn’t meant to be captured the same within a photograph.
Maybe it is was only something that you could understand and feel by being right there in that moment.
As the moments continued to pass the the sunrise faded into the blue, I realized something.
This is what it is like when you follow Jesus.
It is the most incredible, life giving, peace filled, love abounding, grace giving relationship you can ever experience. But no matter how much I want to share and tell everyone about the glorious riches that come from following Him, it is just something you can understand until you put your faith in Him too.
Sure, I will tell all the people all the things, but our miracles are just our story.
He has miracles waiting for each and every one of us.
Tomorrow is a big day for us. Tomorrow at incredible, funny, sweet, loving Aubrey is showing the world that she has chosen to follow Jesus by getting baptized.
This week we were driving and she was talking about how she is just so excited and can’t wait to show the world she loves Jesus.
Sitting in the back seat she asked me, “mom, was I baptized as a baby?”
I smiled. “Nope sis.”
“Why?”
“Well,” I continued, “as dad and I have walked our faith out we decided being a follower of Jesus wasn’t a decision we were going to make for you. We have just prayed that we would be an example of what love looks like when you are and that you would feel so positively impacted by us that you would want to too. But it was never something we were going to force on you. That’s what makes this so special for me and dad. You chose this for you. And we couldn’t be any more proud.”
It is a glorious miracle that you can’t fully understand or describe and I certainly couldn’t capture it in a photograph.
Nope. You had to be in it.
You had to feel it.
You had to experience it.
You want to have your life changed by the One who gave His life to save yours? Take a step. Seek Him. Follow Him. Be changed.
Shields up.
Swords out.
Super proud momma,
Kristin
